Which of these.223 rifles do you recommend? ?
I am deciding on which of these rifles to purchase:
Remington SPS Varmint
- I like this rifle because of its stock and barrel length, but what i don't like about it is that the barrel is not free floating, does not have a detachable magazine and i have read some reviews which say that remington has had some "bad apples" come out of the production line.
Tikka T3 Super Varmint
-i also like this rifle because of the stock, but i also hear it has a very smooth bolt action. It has a Picatinny rail for mounts, adjustable cheek piece, free floating barrel and it has a detachable magazine. But what i like most of this rifle, is that tikka makes sure that every rifle that leaves there factory has to shoot 1 MOA. The only thing which i do not like, is that it is foreign. Not that i hat them or anything, its just that i would like to support american factories.
I will be using the rifle for varmint hunting (coyotes, rabbits, squirrels, etc) and target shooting.

In the UK if I wanted a British made rifle it would cost me about thousands of pounds.
Therefore I buy foreign. Tikka, Sako and Blazer.
Remington could build a rifle at one time. Now the company is owned by bean counters and their heart isn’t in it. I won’t buy another Remington.

The remington 710 – 770 models are the ones that are crap, but they still shoot accurate enough to take down a deer at 100yards but the 700model is 10x better. So if it is a 700 sps model im sure you wont have a problem with it.
The Tikka if im not mistaken is made or designed by beretta and is also a pretty good gun.
So for what you looking to do, Hold both and see which one feels more comfortable and if possible try to find a way to shoot them(friends, people at shooting ranges etc..) but both are good rifles that will get the job done.

Have you looked at the Remington xr100. I own one in 204 ruger. It’s a nice gun. It shoots well, has a good trigger, and very comfortable thumbhole stock. The down side is that it is a single shot. Not that that really matters in varmint hunting. Just my opinion.

I would get the Tikka. The only Remington that I would get would be one from the custom shop. I agree with the poster that Remington has too many bean counters. They are not what they used to be at all.

no matter what you ask here, someone will always recommend something else, won’t they? I also prefer to buy Amercan but given the choices, and your stated preferences, I would choose the Tikka
But have you ever thought about a Bushmaster???!!! LMAO
